belgium

The Kingdom of Belgium is a sovereign state in Western Europe, and a member of the Schengen Zone. Belgium is currently one of the most influential and important nations in the world, with its capital Brussels hosting the headquarters of both NATO and the E.U. Belgium is also one of Europe”s main business hubs, and as a result is an ideal investment location with favorable rates of taxation.

Belgium does not offer a Citizenship by Investment program like other E.U countries like Austria, Portugal and Cyprus, but instead has a Residency by Investment program that is extremely attractive to investors and business entrepreneurs.

Benefits of Belgian Residency

  • Belgium is a political and economic œpowerhouse
  • No limitations on minimum stay a year.
  • Belgium citizenship after 5 years.
  • No restrictions on dual citizenship
  • Visa free travel to other EU countries.

The Belgium Residence Program (BRP) is mainly suited to entrepreneurs and business investors who wish to start a Western European based company. BRP is granted through business formation and the creation of jobs for Belgians.

Belgium Residence Program

BRP has no minimum residency requirements of its applicants, yet they are still able to apply for Permanent Residence (PR) and full citizenship after five years. This is an ideal situation for businesspeople and investors with varied portfolios, who as Belgian residents are free to come and go as they please visa free to Belgium or indeed any other E.U state.

2ndPassports.com can arrange meetings with applicants in Dubai, London, Zurich or in Belgium. Please contact 2ndPassports.com for an appointment.

Fees and Charges

A large percentage of charges for applicants of Belgian residence pertains to processing fees, legal costs and property (home, office, workspace etc.) rental. The Belgium Residence Program is dealt with on a case-by-case basis, and can vary in terms of pricing.

The average financial outlay in the five years of residence until citizenship is 350k – 500k, which is still cheaper and less constricting than many other Citizenship by Investment programs.

Payments are done in steps, and the first year”s outlay could total as much as 150,000. 2ndPassports.com recommends prospective applicants to have at least 300,000 at their disposal before embarking on the Belgian Residence Program.

Belgium Residence Permit

2ndPassports.com can help applicants from outside the E.U embark on their Belgium Residence Program. We can aid in the process of gaining a residence permit as a business investor, either in an established Belgian company or in the creation of a brand new business.

The timescale before the issue of a residency permit is 3-8 months. The permit will need to be renewed annually for the initial three years of residency, at which point the applicant will qualify for a  permanent residence permit.

The BVBA (Besloten Vennootschap met Beperkte Aansprakelijkheidand or Private company with limited liability are the most popular company types in Belgium. The Belgian BVBA works just like a standard limited liability company, and the share capital must be at least 18,600.

Belgium Citizenship

Belgium is the only country in Western Europe where one is eligible to apply for citizenship after just three years of residence. Full Belgian citizenship is usually procured after five years following two years of processing.

The Belgian residency permit grants the holder the freedom of travel to E.U countries visa-free, and allowance to remain in any E.U country for 90 days per 6-month period.

Applicants are required to pass a language requirement of either French, German or Dutch when applying for Belgian citizenship. The Belgian passport grants full E.U citizenship to its holder, allowing them to live and work anywhere in Europe for any length of time. Belgium has no restrictions on dual citizenship.
